Hi, I am Cameron Stockford

I'm an MD-PhD candidate at Yale School of Medicine, originally from Claremont, California. I earned my BA in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience at Pitzer College with highest honors, receiving the Best Thesis Award for my undergraduate research on neurodegenerative disease. Before Yale, I worked in the La Spada Lab at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, where I helped uncover alternative polyadenylation (APA) as a novel disease mechanism in TDP-43 proteinopathies — changes in 3' UTR length that drive differential expression, isoform variation, and mislocalization of RNA transcripts implicated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, frontotemporal dementia, and others.

At Yale, I am training to become a physician-scientist to identify novel disease mechanisms in neurodegeneration to eventually target with therapeutics to halt neurodegeneration.
